Leaves is a self-help companion app for adults (18+) who want to reduce or quit cannabis. We believe privacy is fundamental, not optional. This policy explains how we handle your information.

The short version:

• Your data stays on your device by default
• No account is required to use Leaves
• You can export or delete your data anytime
• Analytics are optional and privacy-friendly

What Data Leaves Collects

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All of your personal data is stored locally on your device using secure storage. This includes:

• Your goal setting (quit, reduce, or take a break)
• Daily check-in logs (mood, sleep, craving levels)
• Trigger journal entries
• SOS tool usage logs
• Slip reset records
• App preferences and settings

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it.

Optional Analytics (If Enabled)

If you choose to leave analytics enabled (you can disable this in Settings), we collect anonymous usage data to help improve the app:

• Which features are used (e.g., check-in, SOS, slip reset)
• App crashes and errors (to fix bugs)
• Session duration and screen views

This data is anonymous — we do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information. Analytics cannot be traced back to individual users.

What We Don't Collect

• Names, email addresses, or contact information
• Location data
• Health records or medical information
• Financial information
• Social media accounts
• Advertising identifiers

How We Use Information

We use anonymous analytics data (if enabled) solely to:

• Fix bugs and crashes
• Understand which features are helpful
• Improve the app experience

We never sell your data. We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for marketing purposes.

Your Control Over Your Data

Export Your Data

You can export all your data at any time from Settings → Export Data. This creates a file containing all your logs, settings, and progress that you can save or transfer.

Delete Your Data

You can delete all your data at any time from Settings → Delete All Data. This permanently removes all information from your device.

Disable Analytics

You can disable analytics at any time from Settings → Privacy → Analytics. When disabled, no usage data is collected or transmitted.

Third-Party Services

Leaves uses the following third-party services:

Crash Reporting (Sentry)

We use Sentry to capture crash reports when the app encounters errors. This helps us fix bugs quickly. Crash reports include technical information about the error but no personal data.

Analytics (PostHog)

If analytics are enabled, we use PostHog to understand app usage patterns. PostHog is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or track users across websites.

Data Security

Your data is stored using your device's secure storage mechanisms. Sensitive information (like personal notes) is encrypted at rest on your device. We do not have access to your device data.

Children's Privacy

Leaves is intended for adults 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will delete any associated analytics data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Leaves after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
